Jamendo App Contest Rules

1. Organization

The Jamendo API Contest is organized by JAMENDO S.A., 51 Rue de Strasbourg

L-2561 LUXEMBOURG from April 11 to June 9, 2013. This Contest is free and no purchase is necessary to enter or win.

This Contest is designed to encourage developers to create innovative applications using the new Jamendo API v3. Jamendo and the community will choose the winning applications, and prizes will be awarded in accordance with these Rules.

2. Eligibility

In order to enter the Contest you must agree to these Rules which form a binding legal agreement between you and Jamendo with respect to the Contest.

Any developer can participate to this Contest which is available on the following page .

In order to participate, developers must register for the Jamendo API at the Jamendo API devportal.

In order to use the API, developers must accept to be bound by the Jamendo API Terms of Use without any limitation. These Terms of Use can be viewed on the API registration page.

Participants are welcomed either as individuals or as teams made up of two or more developers.

Minors must have the written consent of a parent or legal guardian in order to be eligible to participate and receive any prizes.

3. How to enter - Application requirements

Developers must develop one or more application imperatively using the Jamendo API version 3 (https://api.jamendo.com/v3.0), which means that all API calls must be made through v3.0.

Developers may use any language of their choice (Ruby, Python, PHP, etc.) and develop for any platform (iOS, Android, Linux, Windows 8, etc.). Add-ons and plug-ins will be also accepted (plug-ins for VLC, Winamp, XBMC etc.).

The application and any technology used, including software installed on any server used by the application, must be open source, and published under any open source license listed on opensource.org.

The application must be originally developed or implemented and must not violate or infringe on any applicable law or regulation or third-party rights.

The application must respect the provisions of the Jamendo API Terms of Use and these Rules.

The application source code must be imperatively published on GitHub by forking the Jamendo repository. Groups of developers have to open an organization account on GitHub and all members of the group must be part of that organization.

In order to “submit” the application, developers must create a tag called “final” and put the final version of the source in that tag.Only the version tagged “final” will be reviewed for the Contest.

The application must be published on GitHub and submitted to the Jamendo team between April 11, 2013 and June 9, 2013 at midnight (UTC+2). Applications submitted after this date will not be accepted.

Publishing the application in an official application store (only when applicable, i.e. iOS, Android, etc. applications) is not a requirement for this Contest. However, developers must be aware that the lack of such publication may prevent the Jamendo community from testing the application in order to vote for the Community Award. It is the developer’s responsibility to publish the application early enough to make it publicly available during the voting period. Jamendo may not be held responsible for any delay or loss of chance to participate in the Contest if the application is not published on such application store.

Jamendo reserves the right to reject any application that does not comply with these Rules, violates or infringes on any applicable law or regulation or third-party rights, or in any other circumstances as determined by Jamendo at its sole discretion.

4. Judging

Between June 12, 2013 and June 23, 2013 at midnight (UTC+2), the Jamendo Community will vote for the Community Award and the Jamendo team will review the applications to determine the most innovative one.
